Testing of Formica® solid surfacing for medical/dental
specifactions.
General information:
Stain and chemical resistance of Formica® solid surfacing
for medical and dental applications was tested utilizing agents and chemicals frequently used in medical/dental settings.These
agents were placed in contact with solid surfacing for 16 hours.
All the staining agents and chemicals were easily removed with a maroon pad and cif.
Following is the list of typical medical and dental stains used in testing:
- Tincture of iodine
- Tincture of mercurochrome
- Gentian violet
- Lysol® brand desinfectant
- Wright stain
- Dimethyl methylene blue
- Safranine 0
- Betadine
- Trypan blue
- Rodamine B isothiocyanate
- Silver nitrate
- Zinc oxide ointment
- Eugenol
- Eucalyptol
- Ammonia
Formica® solid surfacing is stain and chemical
resistant. It is solid and renewable and is resistant to fungal and bacterial growth.
